The HTC droid incredible is a smart phone which has been manufactured using the android
operating system by the HTC Corporation. In April 2010 the droid incredible was first released
and is only available through Verizon Wireless and is very similar to the HTC Sprint 4G Evo and
is succeeded by the HTC S and Thunderbolt. The droid incredible runs on Éclair 2.1 Android
software, and has been modified with HTC sense
After the announcement of HTC Android 2.2, there was no further comment as to whether the
HTC droid incredible would upgrade to the 2.2, although it was stated that all the devices would
be upgraded by December 2010. Depending on its release by Google would depend on the
update which is also known as Gingerbread. These updates would present in the form of an over
the air update.
As opposed to the standard 2.1 devices droid incredible will see improvements such as
application called Friend Stream which provides an integrated social aggregation on Twitter,
Flicker and Facebook as the device includes a FM tuner. The device also includes Footprints
which is a geo tagging application for photos and includes a redesigned functionality and
appearance for applications such as stock 2.1.
The HTC droid incredible Smart Phone will feature an eight mega pixel camera that has a dual
LED flash, camcorder with a resolution of 800 x 480 and optical mouse, which either compressed
in H.263 or MP4 format. The back of the droid incredible will optionally support tethering with VZ
Access Manager by Verizon although other alternatives of tethering could be possible. This HTC
device also shares the AV output with a micro USB output and in turn provides the facility to see
the browser, YouTube or video on a Projector or TV with the use of an extra cable accessory.
HTC then switched the Amoled displays in September 2010 which were manufactured by
Samsung to a Sony Super TFT LCD. Due to the high demand for the HTC droid incredible this
change was carried out. It is predicted that this change will go unnoticed as there is no noticeable
difference with regards to the displays. In July 2010 HTC revealed that the droid incredible would
receive the Froyo 2.2 android via an update OTA around the end of July early August.
This update was then confirmed on Twitter by the Verizon technicians before the official
announcement was made by Verizon. And in August 2010 the droid incredible would officially
receive Froyo. However, the company then indicated that this was not he case and that this was
just a rumor. In spite of this debate Verizon Wireless the confirmed that through OTA the device
would receive Android 2.2 update.
Hence in August 2010 all new HTC Droid Incredible devices were sold with the Froyo Android
2.2. Included in the software update a version of HTC Sense User Interface also showed up with
media player minor updates as well as flash light applications which allows the camera to also
operate as a flash light.
